WT Group held its annual employee “Rollout” meeting on Thursday, March 2 at the Stonegate Conference Center in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. With each year comes the unveiling of a new theme, and 2023’s has been deemed ‘TEAMWORK’.
Teamwork is indeed critical at the WT Group. As an organization with diverse Practice Areas, the ability of our people to collaborate from a multi-disciplinary standpoint, helping others attain their full potential and achieve shared goals, is something WT Group professionals strive for each day and with each project. Teamwork builds trust among co-workers and enables individual commitment to a group effort. It is that individual commitment to a shared goal that makes our team – and our company – deliver peak performance for our clients and the communities we serve. And that is why the entire team at the WT Group works to be the best engineering, design, and consulting firm across the country.
“I’m proud of the exemplary teamwork I see displayed by WT Group professionals every day,” said Troy Triphahn, President & CEO. “That kind of teamwork across our Practice Areas is what has helped our organization flourish and experience such rapid growth in recent years. It also empowers innovation, creativity and out-of-the-box thinking. Consider the state-of-the-art retail petroleum store our Design & Program Management (DPM) team helped develop, as well as auditing parks and trails for ADA compliance by our Accessibility team. WT Group team members have even helped clients explore whether steel or wood is a better option for residential construction from a structural standpoint.”
In addition to an overall company update, four department heads provided updates of their teams, current projects, and future outlook for the year. Presenters included: David MacDonald (Director of Business Development), John McGovern (Principal-in-Charge, Accessibility Consulting), Jim Glascott (Principal-in-Charge, Civil Engineering), and Chris Kalischefski (Principal-in-Charge, Design & Program Management).
Employees also participated in JENGA Maker, an interactive game involving TEAMWORK and collaboration. One ‘DIRECTOR’ from each table was nominated and tasked with relaying information and directions to other tablemates, or ‘MAKERS,’ so they could successfully build two objects without knowing what they were. Without saying the name of the object or pointing, the ‘DIRECTOR’ had to communicate solely by using block descriptions, colors, and sizes. All tables received the same two cards, and in the end, each were able to correctly build a battleship and a lobster!
Each employee was given a WT Group TEAMWORK-branded notebook, puzzle coaster, and mission statement poster to proudly display at their desks and inspire collaboration that ultimately leads to shared success. The WT Group’s emphasis on teamwork will continue to be a defining value of the organization as we help a growing number of clients take on and solve their business challenges in the years ahead.
The meeting concluded with an employee award ceremony as those celebrating (5), (10), (15), and (20) years were honored for their service. We are extremely proud of the team we have at WT Group, and believe we have the best in the industry.
