On Thursday, Sept. 14, 2023, the WT Foundation’s 2nd Annual ‘Grip It, Rip It, Trace It’ event took place at the Top Tracer facility located at the Bridges of Poplar Creek Country Club in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. With open invitations to all WT Group employees and anyone in the Chicagoland area, the sold-out event resulted in a packed house of 10 bays, allowing six golfers to participate in each bay. Sponsoring companies included: Enterprise Fleet Management; Evergreen Sales; LINKS Technology; Maple & Hash; NiKnack Marketing; R. Carlson & Sons; StormTrap; Victaulic; and WT Group.
Throughout the action-packed evening, guests engaged in a virtual, 18-hole golf match on the popular Pebble Beach course of their choice. Participants enjoyed a wide selection of food and drinks, with the additional fun of opportunities to win an array of beautiful raffle baskets filled with items donated by local businesses, stores, and restaurants. A “50/50” raffle helped raise additional funds in support of the Foundation’s scholarship programs. Participants also received a “goodie bag” of assorted items donated by many of the event sponsors.
Troy Triphahn, President of the WT Foundation, made the rounds visiting and encouraging guests in each bay, individually thanking everyone who helped make the event a success.
“It was exciting to see so many of our partners and friends come out in support of the WT Foundation,” Troy said. “It was a fun time, and the commitment to our scholarship program was truly inspiring. The people who came together to support the WT Foundation’s scholarships – including WT Group employees, volunteers, clients, and vendor/partners – are having a real impact in the lives of young people preparing for careers in STEM-related fields. I’m grateful to everyone who participated and look forward to other great events in support of the WT Foundation!”
As a growing number of local high schools develop STEM-focused learning pathways, some centering specifically on the ever-expanding field of engineering, the WT Foundation’s mission becomes even more important. Proceeds from this event are dedicated to the Scott R. Triphahn Scholarship, annually awarded to one graduating senior from District 211 High Schools of James B. Conant, Schaumburg, or Hoffman Estates, and to the Stephen T. Triphahn Scholarship donation to Harper College.
“As a community-focused organization, the goal of the WT Foundation is to make it easier for bright, young adults to go to college and achieve degrees in engineering or related fields,” Troy said. “Engineering talent is always needed by today’s society to design and execute innovative projects. But, even more importantly, these young people will help to reshape and improve the future of our world. Whether it’s greener buildings, renewable energy, or more environmentally friendly technologies, skilled engineers will undoubtedly be a major part of the solutions. I’m proud that the WT Foundation is doing what we can to make a difference for the communities we serve.”
