Sears Park

The 10+ acre park facility in Alsip, Illinois is operated by the Alsip Park District. A 2007 grant award funded the demolition and reconstruction project. The Sears Park site posed several engineering challenges including earthwork, storm water management, permitting, and floodplain mitigation. Remediation for the onsite pond required special handling due to flood plain and wetland issues under the authority of the sanitary district, municipalities and federal agencies. Park amenities included football and baseball fields, fitness workout stations, a new shelter and many walking paths. The pond was also drained and dredged to help support wildlife species.
