What motivated you to apply for an internship at WT Group?

I was motivated to apply for an internship at WT Group because I was impressed by the wide range of projects they’ve completed. I wanted to explore different types of projects to help me discover what I’d like to focus on in the future. WT Group's Internship Program was exactly what I was looking for.

What was your favorite project or task?

My favorite project has been the Morton Grove Park District project because I was actively involved from the start. I set up sheets using Civil 3D, developed a demolition plan, and worked on it consistently throughout my internship. The project involved four smaller park sites, which I had the opportunity to visit in person. It was incredible to see the work come to life beyond my computer screen.

What new skills are you gaining during your time with us?

During my time with WT Group, I developed my communication skills, such as sending emails and interacting with people at work, and organizing skills, such as organizing project files.

How do you think this internship has prepared you for your future career?

This internship has given me valuable insight into how civil engineers work on real-world projects. Before joining WT Group, I thought civil engineering was mainly about designing infrastructure. However, I’ve learned that it involves much more than calculations and design—it requires strong communication with clients, coworkers, and other stakeholders. This experience has been crucial in preparing me for a successful career as a civil engineer.

Are there any particular tools or technologies you have become proficient in or enjoyed working with?

I have become proficient in using Civil 3D.

How do you think this experience will influence your career path?

This experience taught me that civil engineering isn’t just about calculations, it also involves understanding the social interactions between communities and society. I look forward to developing these social interaction skills in college to support my future career path.
