What motivated you to apply for an internship at WT Group?

I enjoyed the shadowship I did the year prior and I felt that an internship would give me a more focused education in a department closer to my major.

What was your favorite project or task?

My favorite project was an electrical demo at St. Cantius Church in Chicago. I was thrilled to plan the site visit and develop the project plans. It gave me the opportunity to truly lead the visit, rather than simply participate.

What new skills did you gain during your time with us?

I developed skills in AutoCAD, improved my communication with clients, learned how to teach others, and gained experience conducting site visits.

How do you think this internship has prepared you for your future career?

I believe this internship has prepared me for the future by helping me understand how the MEP department operates, while also showing me how to learn, problem-solve, and master different aspects of my job.

Are there any particular tools or technologies you have become proficient in or enjoyed working with?

The main tool I’ve become proficient in is AutoCAD. I came in with absolutely zero experience and was able to learn the tool throughout the last two years in my internship.

How do you think this experience will influence your career path?

I believe this internship at WT Group has influenced my career path by sparking my interest in building design and construction.

Do you have any advice for future interns at WT Group?

Ask a lot of questions and don’t try to learn everything all at once. Learn about what you need to complete the current task and eventually you’ll figure it all out.
