This project involved renovating a 1950s “Bahama Hotel” while maintaining its use as a hotel. The primary improvement was the addition of a dedicated café and bar exclusively for hotel guests. The existing lobby was repurposed into a small café with a commercial kitchen, providing 567 square feet of guestaccessible dining space. Additionally, the check-in desk area was expanded to incorporate a bar and check-in counter, adding 111 square feet of accessible space. In total, guests gained access to 778 square feet within the new café and bar area.
Originally, the Bahama Hotel featured 15 rooms with kitchenettes and 15 standard hotel rooms. During its transformation into the Cole Hotel, the kitchenettes were removed, five distinct floor plans were introduced, and the midcentury aesthetic was preserved with a vibrant, modern design. The renovation also included a 600-square-foot "Honeymoon Suite" with wraparound windows and a private balcony.
